Marlene Jacqueline O’Connell was called into Heaven on Sunday, February 25, 2018.  Born February 4, 1939 in Toledo, OH, she was the daughter of Frank and Victoria (Kulczak) Bak.  A 1957 graduate of Harriet Whitney High School, she formed lasting friendships with her “Whitney Girls.”  She married William J. O’Connell Jr. and together they raised 4 children celebrating both their Polish and Irish heritage. Marlene began her career in banking, worked at Dana Corp., and retired from Lucas County Jobs and Family Services.  She enjoyed family time, cooking, polka’s, bunco and bingo.
    She is survived by her family, William Jr.; children, Dawn (John) Cameron, Maureen, Colleen (Danny) McDevitt and William J. O’Connell III; grandsons, Jack and Ryan and granddaughters, Kayleigh, Madeline, Josette, Cecelia and their mother Elizabeth; great-grandson Luke; brothers-in-law, Albert Walkowiak, Cornelius (Nancy) O'Connell, Terrance O'Connell, Fred (Nancy) Rank, Herman Loch and many nieces and nephews.  Marlene was preceded in death by all of her sisters and brothers; Alice, Geraldine, Harry, John, Albion and Ernie and son-in-law Robert Krueger.
    Family and friends may visit on Thursday from 2-8:00 p.m. at the W.K. Sujkowski & Son Funeral Home, 3838 Airport Hwy.  A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, March 2, 2018 at Corpus Christi University Parish (2955 Dorr St., Toledo, OH 43607) at 10:00 a.m., where friends may visit after 9:30 a.m.  Interment will be private.  
    Memorials may be made to Corpus Christi University Parish or the Toledo Humane Society. The family wishes to thank the caregivers at Spring Meadows Senior Community for their love and compassion with Marlene and your continued patience with our Dad Bill who still resides there.
