Charles “Charlie” Kowalski Obituary

Charles J. Kowalski passed away on April 20, 2022, at the age of 78. Charlie was born on September 29, 1943, to Joseph and Alice (Gurzynski) Kowalski in Toledo. His battle with serious medical issues in recent years showed his courage in facing life challenges with a smile. Despite the pain, Charlie came out a hero and stayed strong until the end.

Charlie started working for Chrysler-Jeep after graduating from high school and retired after 40 dedicated years. Faith, Family and Friends were always important to Charlie. He enjoyed many activities over the years that involved these three values. He was an active member of the Moose Lodge 1579 and the Elks 53. Charlie was an avid sport fan and played softball for many years on the St. Catherine’s CYO men’s softball team.

Over the years, he became known as the “go-to-man.” If you needed a job done, he was the first one you would call. Most of all, Charlie cherished the time he spent with his family and friends.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Richard, and sister, Lorraine Ann. He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 57 years, Lorraine (Augustyniak); daughters, Dawn (Scott) Waniewski, Debbie (John) Perry, and Tracy Koralewski (fiancée Tim Olsen). Grandchildren, Ryan (Camille), Sam, Sarah (Julian), Cassie, Jack, Megan, and Nicole and great Grandchildren, Kaylee, Cayden, Jaxon, Mila and Xander to be born this June; and extended family and friends.

Family and friends may visit on Monday from 2-8:00 p.m. at the W.K. Sujkowski & Son Funeral Home, 3838 Airport Hwy.
