Helen Delores (Sablowski) Pacholski
4/21/1929 – 1/23/2021
One of the greatest mother-in-law’s ever passed away comfortably, by God’s grace. A Libbey High School graduate, she also retired from Libbey Glass to be at home for her family. Always so proud of her Polish heritage and legacy... she met her husband, Leonard, in her Polish neighborhood on Campbell St., here in Toledo.
Such a vibrant Helen, she always had a “go-get-it” attitude. Helen volunteered at her local American Legion post, in the women’s auxiliary, for years taking the pride in handing out crepe paper poppies for veteran donations. She also devoted time to her beloved St. Patrick’s Historic church as a volunteer.
Helen enjoyed many trips to Las Vegas and Canada for gambling. She once saw Elvis in concert, although she had a crush on Mario Lanza! Deft with a crochet hook, she made countless gifts of afghans over the decades, with each stitch flawlessly executed. In recent years, she enjoyed further crafting and painting, and sci-fi and horror movies with her son and grandson (she would root for the villain!).
Helen had a very social personality; she loved talking to anyone about anything. She is missed by the neighbors with whom she shared daily chats.
Married to Leonard on August 7, 1954, she kissed him goodbye for the last time in 2011. Here to celebrate Helen are her beloved son, Mark (Susan); cherished grandson, Eric; and every life for which she always has a smile and a kind word. Her beautiful home gardens will be lovingly tended always. A memorial service is planned for Saturday, February 6, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Historic St. Patrick’s Church, 130 Avondale.
