Joan Barbara Spalding, age 81, passed away peacefully on Monday June 25, 2012 at Parkcliffe Community. Joan was born in Toledo on September 21, 1930, the daughter of Alexander and Mary (Horvath) Smith. Joan was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and she cherished the time spent with her family. She enjoyed traveling, dancing, and playing cards.
    Joan was preceded in death by her parents; husband William; twin newborn children Barbara and Richard; brother Alexander Smith and sisters Marie Sneider, Ethel Lambert, and Helen Golen. She is survived by her loving children Thomas, Mark (Pamela), Sharon (Richard) Bon, Nancy (Henry) Cobau, David (Kathleen) and Amy (Richard) Wolff; grandchildren Stephen and Aaron Spalding, Jacqueline and Alexander Bon, Stephanie and William Cobau, Jessica and Katelyn Spalding, Hannah and David Wolff; and her sisters Irene Vetter and Margaret Barr.
    Family and friends may visit on Friday from 2-8 p.m. at the W. K. Sujkowski & Son Funeral Home, 3838 Airport Hwy. where the Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Funeral services will begin with prayers at the mortuary on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick of Heatherdowns Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Highland Memory Gardens, Waterville, OH. Joan loved flowers, or memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Patrick of Heatherdowns Parish.
