Thaddeus “Ted” C. Sobieszczanski, age 89, of the Elizabeth Scott Community passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 28, 2012 at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was born in Toledo on April 8, 1923 the son of Thaddeus and Lottie (Zurawski) Sobieszczanski. Ted was a 1941 graduate of Macomber High School where he excelled in baseball.
    He was a WWII US Army Veteran serving in the European Theater and was a recipient of 2 Bronze Stars. After serving in the Army he married his childhood sweetheart Mary Ann Jankowski on November 23, 1946. Ted retired from Toledo Scale in 1983 where he worked as a production control supervisor for 37 years and was a Quarter Century Club member.
    He was a charter member of St. Pius X Church where he was active as a baseball coach, usher and St. Vincent De Paul Society. Ted was a member of the AL Przybylski Post 642 and was active in the Burial Corps. He enjoyed in his later life spending time with his grandchildren and attending their sporting events  
    Ted was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Helen Mikulski; and by his loving wife, Mary Ann of 55 years. Surviving is his son, Timothy and his wife Adele; grandchildren, Tad and Quinn; and his nephew, Ken Nieckarz.
    Family and friends may visit at the W.K. Sujkowski & Son Funeral Home, 3838 Airport Hwy., on Thursday from 2 to 8 PM with a Recitation of the Rosary at 7 PM. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, November 2, 2012, with prayers in the mortuary at 9:45 AM followed by Mass of Christian Burial at St. Pius X Church at 10:30 AM. Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery with Military Burial Honors by the Lucas County Veterans Burial Corps.
    Ted’s family would like to thank all of his doctors and caregivers for the care and support they gave to him. The family suggests donations to St. Pius X Church, St. Francis DeSales High School, Nortre Dame Academy or to the charity of donor’s choice.
