Alphonse J. Paszczykowski, age 88, passed away on Tuesday February 26, 2013 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Holland, Ohio on October 7, 1924, he was the son of Floyd and Rose (Kuras) Paszczykowski.
Al proudly served his country in the U.S. Army as a Medical Technician in India during WWII. Upon returning home, he briefly worked for Doehler Jarvis before becoming the owner/operator of a neighborhood gas station.
Intrigued by the construction industry, he became skilled as a brick mason, building his own masonry contracting business.  Eventually, he expanded into residential development, new construction and home remodeling.
Dedicated to high standards of integriy and quality, he was quite innovative in his industry, once building a home in 24 hours. Al truly loved his profession, from which he derived much personal satisfaction.
Al happily shared himself with his family, being the first call they made when faced with a problem.  He was his grandchildren's biggest fan.  He could be found in the bleachers cheering or shuttling one to an afterschool event.
Al was a wonderful husband, father, and dzia dzia and will be dearly missed.
He was a founding and active member of the former St. Jude Catholic Parish and a longtime member of the Catholic War Veterans Logsdon Walla Post #639.
Al was preceded in death by his parents, son Ernest, and infant brother Ernest.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Lucille (Mielcarek); children Barbara (Bruce) Newman of Toledo, Janice Paszczykowski of Chicago, IL., Ann Marie (Quentin) Kenney of Columbia, SC. and Dennis (Ann) Paszczykowski of Toledo; grandchildren Bridgette and Brian Newman, Christopher (Jenna Stephens), Sarah and Emily Kenney; James, Julie and Joseph Paszczykowski; sisters-in-law Carol Konieczka and Esther Mielcarek and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may visit Sunday from 2-8 p.m. at the W. K. Sujkowski & Son Funeral Home, 3838 Airport Hwy. where CWV Logsdon Walla Post #639 will Recite the Rosary at 6 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Sylvania where the family will receive friends after 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests consideration for a tribute in Al's memory to St. Joseph Parish, Sylvania or a charity of the donor's choice.
The family expresses heartfelt thanks to Connie, Audra and Tiffany from Promedica Erie West Hospice for the compassionate care given to Al in his final days.
