Richard Donald Drzewiecki (Woods), age 80, passed away on Friday May 24, 2013. Richard was born on April 7, 1933 to Edmond and Beatrice Woods in Toledo. He graduated from Libbey High School in 1951 where he studied electricity. He continued his studies at Macomber High School and the Naval Reserves.
    Richard joined the Naval Reserves in 1950 and volunteered for active duty in the Navy in 1951. He served until 1953 and continued with the Naval Reserves until 1958. He was stationed at the Grosse Ille Naval Air Station and earned the Seabee rank of Construction Electrician 3rd Class.
    Richard worked for New York Central Railroad as a diesel electrical apprentice from 1953-1956. He became an electrical journeyman in 1954. Richard worked at LOF from 1956-1961 and then went to work for General Motors Powertrain as an electrical motor repairman from 1961 until his retirement in 1992. He was a lifetime member of the Korean War Vets, Chapter #131 and Conn-Weissenberger VFW Post #587. He enjoyed reading, music and dancing.
   Richard was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his daughters Kathryn (Charles Fraver) Covarrubias and Jeannie (Robert) Yarberry; sons Lawrence (Janet) and Daniel Woods; grandchildren Adrienne, Robert, Laura, Carlos, Lupe, Zachary and Taylor; 7 great grandchildren; brother, Ronald Woods; sisters Carolyn Inman, Patricia Greenwich and Pamela DeSot and former wife and best friend Patsy Woods.
   Family and friends may visit Wednesday from 2-8 p.m. at the W. K. Sujkowski & Son Funeral Home, 3838 Airport Hwy. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Little Flower Catholic Church where Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. Interment with military honors provided by the Lucas County Burial Corps will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
The family prefers tributes be made to Honor Flight of Northwest Ohio.
