David A. McDevitt, age 73, passed away on Saturday October 12, 2013 at UTMC Hospital after an extended illness, which he fought courageously. David was born in Toledo on March 7, 1940, the son of Lawrence and Alice (Kelley) McDevitt. David spent 47 years working in both residential and commercial heating and cooling. Prior to that he had been a meat cutter. In his younger years, David was very active with the YMCA downtown and was a counselor at the Storer Camps. He thoroughly enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping and occasional trips to the casinos in Las Vegas. He also was a longtime member of the Maumee Eagles and Maumee Elks. David was a kind man with a great sense of humor and a big heart. He was willing to help anyone when needed. David especially liked helping the Sisters at the Ursuline Center and St. Ursula High School.  He was an excellent cook and enjoyed watching the many cooking shows on TV. His family was from New Castle, PA and David was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Most of all David was a loving husband and father and was a friend to all he met. He will be missed by many.

David was preceded in death by his parents, his wives Dianne and Peggy, his brother Tom and his sister Sally. He is survived by his loving daughter Stacey Ann McDevitt; brother Richard and many extended family and friends.

Family and friends may visit Friday from 3-8 p.m. at the W. K. Sujkowski & Son Funeral Home, 3838 Airport Hwy. where funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. The family prefers tributes be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio; American Heart Association or Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization (ADAO) http://www.asbestosdiseaseawareness.org/
A special thank you is extended to the doctors and staff of the UTMC ICU for the compassionate care given to David during his illness. It was greatly appreciated by his family.

MONET'S GARDEN TABLE BASKET was sent by Ben Kern.

For all of our friends and family, our thoughts are with you. May strength prevail during these hard times. They say that a part of you dies when a special Loved One passes away...I disagree...I say a part of you lives with your Loved One on the other side. Love Ben Kern and Paula Furey

I spent many hours with Dave and enjoyed every minute. He was a good guy to work with. I'm glad I was able to talk to him a while back. He told me how much he appreciated what you were doing for him Stacey. May God bless.
