Alice J. Zdawczyk, age 91, passed away on her birthday, Friday May 9, 2014 at the Toledo Hospital. Surrounded by her loving family. Alice was born in 1923 to Stephen and Constance (Zielinski) Sparagowski. Alice married her husband Eugene on January 13, 1945. They were married for almost 64 years prior to Eugene’s passing in 2009. She worked at Doehler Die Casting Co., Owens Brush Co. and Gene’s Mobil Service Station. Alice and Gene also owned and operated Bobb’s Cleaners for 30 years, which was located on South Detroit Ave. with a second store on Airport Hwy. Their advertising slogan was “Look Ma No Spots.” Customers at Bobb’s Cleaners always remarked that she was very personable and caring. Alice also loved to cook Sunday dinners for the family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Christmas and Easter holidays were very special times with her grandchildren. Alice and Eugene were members of St. Patrick of Heatherdowns Parish for more than 50 years. She was very close to her kind neighbors Danny and Linda Truman and their children. The family would also like to extend their thanks to the staff and other residents at Waterford at Levis Commons, where she resided her last two years, for their care and kindness.
   Surviving family members include her son Gary (Sue) Zdawczyk; grandchildren Aaron (Chelsea) Zdawczyk and Amanda (Patrick) Henning; great grandchildren Larkin and Owen Zdawczyk and Mats Henning; brother Leonard Sparagowski of Oklahoma City. Other family members of importance are Stephen and Evelyn Janick and their entire family. She was preceded in death by her parents, thirteen brothers and sisters and her husband.
  A memorial Mass will be held. at St. Patrick of Heatherdowns Church at 10 a.m. on Saturday May 31, 2014 with a time of visiting and lunch to follow at the Holy Family Center (next to the church). Tributes in Alice’s memory may be directed to the parish or a charity of the donor’s choice.

Gary, Sue & family, Sorry to hear of the loss of Gary's mother. We remember meeting her at Steve & Evelyn's home. Our thoughts are with you.
