Alice Barbara (Wojtowicz) Siwa, 85, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2014 at Spring Meadows Senior Community, Holland, Ohio surrounded by her family. She was born June 26, 1928 in Toledo, OH, the daughter of Paul and Antonia (Balonek) Wojtowicz. She attended Libbey High School, and worked her entire adult life at a variety of jobs including: Owens Brush, Craft Master, and Associates and Estrell. Alice was wed to Bernard Siwa on August 6, 1949 and raised three children. Alice was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt. Her dedication to family was always her first and highest priority.
A woman of quiet dignity who always was able to see the dignity possessed by others, her compassion and energy seemed to know no limit. A truly generous soul, she would always give to others before thinking of herself. A member of St. Hyacinth Catholic Church, she took great comfort in her faith and was involved in church activities such as the Altar Society and Seniors Club. Proud of her Polish heritage Alice loved to dance the Polka and even when confined to her bed, still enjoyed listening to her favorite music. She taught more than her share to dance and was always a willing and ready partner; particularly when they played the "fast ones".
Alice was preceded in death by her parents (Paul and Antonia), her husband (Bernard), her brothers (Raymond, Walter (Mooney), Stanley, Joseph and Daniel) and her great-grandchild Ayden. She is survived by her children Annette (Tom) Pollauf of Sylvania, OH, Patrick (Diana) of North Branch, MI, and David (Barbara) of Jamison, PA. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Ryan (Julia) Pollauf, Antonia (Darrell) Schwab, Joseph (Casaundra) and Jonathan Siwa, Jamie and Daniel Woods, Alexander and Amelia Siwa and her great-grandchildren Alexandria, Brianna and Roza.
Family and friends may visit on Wednesday from 2-8p.m. with a recitation of the rosary at 7:00p.m. at W.K. Sujkowski & Son Funeral Home, 3838 Airport Hwy.   Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2014 with a prayer service in the funeral home at 10:00a.m. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at St. Hyacinth Church at 10:30a.m.    Interment to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
The family would like to extend their most sincere appreciation to the staff of Spring Meadows Senior Community as well as to the staff of Hospice of Northwest Ohio for the loving, dignified and compassionate manner in which they cared for our mother in her time in residence there, as well as during her final days.
Memorial tributes may be directed to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or Spring Meadows Extended Care.
