Paul Francis Hoffman, 84, passed away on Wednesday evening surrounded by his loving family at his home.  He was born June 30, 1929 in Perrysburg to Sylvester and Regina Hoffman.  His parents moved to Toledo and went to St. Charles Parish where he entered fourth grade, made his confirmation and graduated eighth grade.  While attending St. Charles, Paul was an altar boy, served on the school board, was a Eucharistic minister and an usher.
Paul went to Libbey High School and was drafted into the U.S. Army while in his senior year.  Paul served during the Korean War and was stationed in Ft. Jackson, SC for two years until he was honorably discharged as CPL Paul Hoffman. He then was employed at Allied Chemical Co. which later became Plaskon.  Paul married the love of his life, Rosella “Mickey” Rectenwald on October 3, 1953 at St. Rose Catholic Church in Perrysburg, OH and they celebrated their 60th Anniversary last October.
Paul had many varied interests which included square and Polka dancing and rooting for the UT Rockets and Detroit Tigers. He played many instruments “by ear” and was a member of the Toledo Glassmen Drum and Bugle Corp and he traveled with the Marv Herzog Band.  He enjoyed antiques, garage sales and auctions and traveling throughout the states.
Paul was an active member of the AACA, Black Swamp Chapter Veteran Motor Car Club of America where he enjoyed showing off his Model T, which he fully restored, Great Lakes Region Car Club and Horseless Carriage Club of America.  He was also a member of the USA Seniors, CWV Post 639, American Legion Post 642 (lifetime member), and St. Charles Euchre Group and President of the Plaskon Retirees. He cherished most his loving family and took great joy in the many gatherings they had, especially during the holidays.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents.  He will be dearly missed by his loving wife, Rosella; children, Becky (Doug) Troyer, Jeff (Sabrina) Hoffman, Barb (Jim) Toth, Pat (Steve) Ganss, Maggie Hoffman and Tim (Anne) Hoffman; 15 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; sister Vera (Dick) Wagner; brothers, Edwin (Judy) and Raymond (Marlene) Hoffman; sister-in-law Rose (Glenn) Schwind; and brothers-in-law, Richard (Kathleen) and Thomas Rectenwald; and numerous extended family and many friends.
