Charles A. Drabek, age 79, passed away suddenly on Saturday October 4, 2014. Charles was born in Toledo on July 10, 1935, the son of Frank and Gertrude (Kutz) Drabek. He was a graduate of Macomber Vocational High School and was an Army veteran, having served in Germany. Chuck was an electrician by trade and for over 35 years worked for Toledo Edison.
After retirement he had his own cabinet making business. Chuck was also the groundskeeper at the Msgr. Schmidt CYO Athletic Complex and adopted the fields as his own. He was a devout Catholic and was a longtime member of Little Flower Catholic Parish where he was very active in all the Men’s Club activities: fish frys, bingo and the feather parties. His greatest love was his family, and he cherished the time spent with his children and especially his grandchildren whom he adored.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and soul mate, Barbara of 44 years, brothers Rollie, John, sisters Gerry, and Ginny. He is survived by his loving children Chuck (Kerri) Jr., Joe (Diane) and Steve (Julie) Drabek; adoring grandchildren Brandi (Kyle) Ostrander, Brittany (Joey) Ross, Ellen, Andrew, Alex and Brynn Drabek; brother Tom (Joyce) Drabek; sisters Martha Glesner and Dorothy Sieja and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, since everyone he met became a friend.
Family and friends may visit Tuesday from 2-8 p.m. at the W. K. Sujkowski & Son Funeral Home, 3838 Airport Hwy., where Scripture services will be held at 7 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at 11 a.m. in Little Flower Catholic Church, where visiting will begin at 10 a.m. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. The family prefers tributes in Chuck’s memory be made to Ronald McDonald House.

My thoughts and prayers are with you during this time of loss of your Father. It brought back many fond memories of my time working with Mom at the Oblate Provincial offices and her great love for Dad and you. They are together again. May they rest in peace.

I found a laminated copy of this obituary in the cafeteria at Coastal Carolina Community College in Jacksonville, NC and would like to get it back to its rightful owner. I know these reminders of our loved ones are very precious. If you know who it might belong to, please contact me back or send that person to the Veterans Office at Coastal Carolina Community College.
I am very sorry for your loss. Chuck seems like a great man and I mourn his passing with you.
Sincerely,
Diane Shultz
