Thomas Grzeszczak, age 71, passed away on Monday October 20, 2014. Thomas was born on June 21, 1943 in Toledo, the son of George and Delphine (Kowalski) Grzeszczak. Tom had been a welder at Chrysler Jeep for 29 years, retiring in 2000. Prior to that he made candy and was the manager of the candy department at the former Tiedtkes Department Store from 1962 until it closed in 1973. Tom was an avid Notre Dame Football fan for many years and also followed the Dallas Cowboys. He liked to bowl but most of all enjoyed sitting on his porch in almost any weather, hot or cold! Tom’s greatest love however was his family and he cherished the time spent with them.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, grandson William Dunphy and grandmother Sadie Kowalski and uncle Joe Kowalski. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years Barbara (Gyuras); daughters Denise Dunphy and Darlene (Joe) Stetler; son Thomas Grzeszczak Jr; grandchildren Michael Anthony Stevens, Brittany Marie and Brianna Nicole Dunphy; aunt Beatrice Ignasiak and cousins Mary Ellen & John Wozny and by numerous other cousins.
Family and friends may visit Thursday from 2-8p.m. at the W.K. Sujkowski & Son Funeral Home, 3838 Airport Hwy., where funeral services will be held on Friday, October 24, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family who will set up an Education Fund for Tom’s grandchildren.
Special thanks from the family go out to Tom’s neighbors, the Scarallis, Butlers and Bartletts for always being there for them and Tom. Also heartfelt thanks to the staff, and especially Dr. Xia, from Flower Hospital and the Cancer Unit for the excellent and compassionate care Tom and his family received. It was greatly appreciated.

Bobbi, I am so very sorry to hear about your terrible loss. I always saw Tom as the quiet, dark, distinguished husband of my Godmother. I pray that Our Lord wraps you in his arms and gives you comfort. I Love you!

Denise - I'm sorry for all that you, your father, and your family have had to endure these past few months. You are such a kind person. I can only imagine how great your father (and mother) must be. Your father is safe and protected in God's hands. Your loss will never go away, but the pain will lessen over time and one day you will be able to laugh and smile at the many fond memories that you share with your Dad. Hang in there. God bless you and your family. Danita
