First and foremost, I was deeply saddened by the news of Dr. Spalding passing. My heart felt condolences are with the entire Spalding family during this difficult time. Dr. Spalding is an amazing individual and will forever have a place in my heart. I was a student of Dr. Spalding at Cal Poly Pomona. Dr. Spalding was my undergraduate advisor throughout my tenure at Cal Poly Pomona and provided excellent personal and professional development to me and to countless other students. His presence at the university made our experiences memorable ones that will last a life time. Dr. Spalding's love for Health Promotion instilled a profound transformation in my life. My tenacity to thrive as a student is the sole product of Dr. Spalding. He made a significant contribution in making me the first in my immediate and extended family to obtain a college degree and pursue my Master's in Public Health degree. Dr. Spalding provided countless hours of his time to prepare and mentor countless students in reaching their upmost highest potentials. Thank you for your diligence Dr. Spalding and for making me the better person I hope to one day before.

RIP-Rest In Power Dr. Spalding

With Love,

Jaime Ruiz Villalobos

I want to offer my deepest condolences to Dr. Spalding's family and friends. Dr. Spalding was my professor when I was completing my undergraduate studies at Cal Poly Pomona. He was a very special person with a caring heart. I remember that he genuinely cared for his students and he would do everything he could to help his students succeed. I will never forget him and how he has made a big impact on my life. He sparked my passion in pursuing a career in the health promotion field and in pursuing a master's degree. If it weren't for his support and guidance, I wouldn't have accomplished my achievements. I will always remember him and he holds a special place my heart. I am very grateful for everything he has done for me and I wish I could have told him "thank you for your advice, guidance, wisdom and everything you have taught me."

Please accept condolences of Mt. San Antonio College's Institutional Review Board (IRB). We had been periodically checking in with him to see how things were progressing in his fight with cancer and had hoped that he would kick it to the curb. We are very saddened to learn of his passing.

Thomas helped us immensely in getting us pointed in the right direction as we began our IRB. He was our community representative. He patiently shared with us how things were done at Cal Poly Pomona's IRB and he listened as we tried to determine how we thought our colleagues at the College would like Mt. SAC's IRB to function. He was an exceptional professional and educator. He will be missed.
