Music by The Piano Brothers

Oh, gentle, cold wind, so kind you are, to take my brother, on a night so calm
It is with great sadness that we share the sudden passing of our beloved Rudy Guardiola. Rudy was without a doubt a great part of the laughter within our family. Rudy enjoyed fishing, zero candy bars, hard licorice, reading books on tape, “B” rated movies and rooting for his favorite Detroit teams, the Lions and Tigers. Rudy is a veteran, serving in the U.S. Army. He worked for more than 25 years in the Toledo Area Sanitary District – Mosquito Control. If there are more mosquitos this year it is because Rudy is not on the job.
He is survived by his wife Linda; children Ashlee Salazar (Mike J.), Jesse, Angelica (Austin L.) and Miguel; Grandchildren Jessie and Mason; his father, Raul Guardiola (Rudy) and his brother and sisters, John (Marina) Guardiola, Alicia (Charles) Geyer, Gloria (Donald) Mikolajczak, Maria Guardiola, Eleanor (Francisco) Villagomez and Esther Guardiola (Ramon P.) and many, many nephews, nieces and cousins.  He was preceded in death by our loving mother, Diamantina and baby brother, James.
Family and friends may visit Thursday January 29, 2015 from 2-8p.m. at the W. K. Sujkowski & Son Funeral Home, 3838 Airport Hwy. with recitation of the Rosary at 7 p.m. Funeral Services will begin with prayers at the Mortuary Friday at 9:15 a.m., followed by the Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.

Rudy was a member of AFSCME Local 544 for many years. He served as the Union Steward and was on several negotiating committees. He used his quiet diplomacy to handle issues that benefited his Union brothers. He will be sorely missed!

I was sorry to hear of the passing of Rudy. I was on his mosquito route in Monclova township. He always did a superb job of spraying our property and whenever I could, would chase him down to give him a bottle of water. We will miss him. Please accept our sincere condolences.
