Loretta A. White, 98, of Toledo, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at Foundation Park Care Center after a long illness.
Born on February 8, 1917 in Lorain County, Ohio to John and Josephine Youngless, Loretta resided in Toledo, Ohio most of the last fifty five years after her marriage to Robert E. White on February 8, 1960.
Loretta dedicated her long working career in service to others. Many years she spent in Oberlin, Ohio at Stophan Studio in sales and portrait finishing; excelling in hand colorization with awards from Eastman Kodak in New York. After marriage she continued to commute many years to that job until she sought employment in Toledo. These jobs included Barron Photo, Fredricks and Nut Time, in the Spitzer Arcade.
Always the hostess, Loretta was most comfortable waiting on others. Her hobbies were photography, crocheting, cooking and caring for her flowers and yard. She looked forward to the times she cared for her great-great niece and nephew; considering them her own. Another joy was caring for the family pet; Shadow. Always humorous; when asked her age, Loretta always claimed to be 100; she almost made it. Loretta was a devout member of St. Charles Catholic Church and walked there regularly to attend.
Preceding her in death are her husband Robert, parents and siblings. Left to remember her are sisters-in-law Brenda, Marijane White and Lois Cleveland; all of Massachusetts. Also surviving are a multitude of nieces, nephews, great and great great nieces and nephews; especially Rebecca and Eddie Lugo and family, David Luce, Evelyn and Glenn Love of Toledo, Edith and Fred Taylor and family of Oberlin, friends and neighbors. Very special were her multitude of caretakers at Foundation Park who became her family also.
A heartfelt Thank You to these selfless guardians of mercy who cared for Loretta’s every need these last years and paid tribute every day to “Miss Loretta” and then Northwest Ohio Hospice joined them.
Family and friends may visit at the W. K. Sujkowski & Son Funeral Home, 3838 Airport Hwy., on Friday (TODAY January 22, 2016) from 3-7 p.m. Loretta’s service will begin with visitation on Saturday January 23, 2016 at 8:30 a.m. in St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church followed by the Funeral Mass at 9 a.m.. Interment will follow at Ft. Meigs Cemetery, Perrysburg.
Memorial tributes may be directed to The Sight Center of Northwest Ohio.
