On February 12th Minnie was reunited with her loving husband Bill of 72 years to spend eternity with the Lord in the kingdom of heaven. Born on Sept. 28th 1918 the second oldest of ten children to Frank and Victoria Knapik in Niagara Falls New York. She lived in west Toledo most of her life and at FCC the last 8 years. They married Sept.4th 1937 at St. Hyacinth Church where they met at a dance 2 1/2 years earlier. She began working at the very young age of 16 as a loving, responsible nanny of four young children. She worked at Champion Spark Plug many years and managed the snack bar at Westland Lanes.
A lifetime member of St. Hyacinth Church, she did numerous volunteer jobs at both church and school. Among them, PTC president and den mother. She was also past officer in St. Francis Guild eventually becoming a life time member. She excelled as a seamstress, baker of polish specialties especially her cheese topped coffee cake and enjoyed preparing many meals for family on holidays and special occasions.
She also enjoyed growing roses, visiting area gardens, reading, playing cards and traveling with family and friends. She was a devout Catholic with a devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary and was a supporter of many Catholic organizations. She enjoyed visiting the Sorrowful Mother Shrine in Bellevue Oh. Minnie and Bills' union was blessed with three children:  Elizabeth Theiss, Marcia (Bob) Hartmann, and Michael. Five grandchildren: James Theiss Jr. (Hope Hall), Karen Lecompte, William Theiss, Tammy Theiss and Nicole Hartmann-Johnson(Chuck); nine great grandchildren;4 step great grandchildren and ten great great grandchildren, who all survive, grieve her loss and celebrate her life. Also mourning her loss are loving brother Gerald Knapik and sisters Lillian (Tom) Huffman and Phyllis Kujawa. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bill, son in law James Theiss Sr., brothers Aloysius and Nate and sisters Helen Koperski, Wanda Knapik, Cecilia Klein and infant sister Maryanne. The family would like to thank all those who cared for Minnie over the years. Memorial contributions in Minnie's name can be made to St. Hyacinth Church. Visitation will be Wednesday at the W. K .Sujkowski & Son mortuary, 3838 Airport Hwy. from 2-8PM with recitation of the rosary at 4PM. Funeral services will begin at 10a.m. Thursday February 18, 2016 at the mortuary followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30AM in St. Hyacinth Church. Interment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park.
