Music by The Piano Brothers

Glenn C. Wenz, age 85, of Toledo, passed away in the early morning hours of February 12, 2016.  He was born on December 5, 1930 to Oscar L. and Marie M. (Hofmann) Wenz.  At an early age, Glenn and his brother Donald, worked along with their father and mother at their vegetable truck garden business on Wenz Rd.  He worked there during grade school and while he attended Libbey High School where he graduated in 1948.  Glenn was drafted into the U.S. Army, serving as Sergeant from 1955-1957.  After Glenn was honorably discharged, he returned back to the family business and married his loving wife, Janet Sipes, on February 17, 1962.  The business eventually progressed to the bedding plant industry and supplied area farmers with vegetable plants and farm markets with flowers. Glenn and Donald began to purchase local greenhouse parts and structures that would go out of business. Those materials were used to expand their business into what is now a 6 acre bedding plant greenhouse operation in south Toledo, Wenz Brothers Farm, Ltd.  After Glenn retired, he passed down his part of the business to his niece Kathy and nephew Jeff. They currently operate the greenhouse along with their father, Donald.   Glenn was a member of the Maumee Valley Growers (formerly Toledo Area Flower and Vegetable Growers), Ohio Florist Assoc., Lucas County Farm Bureau, Metro Detroit Flower Growers Assoc., Farmers’ Market Assoc. of Toledo, and was a former member of Waldo and Associates Inc.
Glenn was preceded in death by his wife, Janet; sister-in-law, Delores Nachtrab; brothers-in-law, Lawrence Nachtrab and Daniel Gedert; and beloved dog, Sugar Lynn.   Surviving is his brother, Donald (Dolores) Wenz; sisters-in-law, Arleen Sipes and Eileen Gedert; nieces and nephews, Kathy, Jeff (Jill), Larry (Kathy), Emma, Sue, Rick (Michelle) and Lisa; great nieces and nephews; cousins and many dear friends.
Family and friends may visit Thursday from 5-8 p.m. and Friday from 2-8p.m. at the W.K. Sujkowski & Son Funeral Home, 3838 Airport Hwy.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at 9:30a.m. in the mortuary. Interment will follow at Maplewood Cemetery. The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff at Home Instead Senior Care and Hospice of Northwest Ohio for their compassionate care and support.
In lieu of flowers memorial tributes may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or a charity of the donor’s choice.

Donald and all the Wenz Family,,,I have always remembered the good times working at the greenhouses..Donald and Glen ALWAYS had a great sense of humor. I can still see the twinkle in your dads eyes when he was talking. I was so glad you see you when I made that quick trip to Toledo....It made me feel so good...Oh yes I can still see the 7 cents per box when we were planting the flowers
Those good memories of your family will ALWAYS be with me.
I will keep you all in my prayers....Ken
