Music by The Piano Brothers

James D. Welcheck, 53, of Toledo, went to his heavenly home Friday, March 25, 2016, surrounded by his family and friends.  James patiently endured a life-long battle with Friedreich’s Ataxia, a paralyzing disease.  He was always cheerful, friendly and good natured. His life was very challenging and he never complained or gave up hope.
James was a graduate of St John’s Jesuit High School of Toledo in 1981, where his outside interests included track and karate.  He graduated college in May of 1995 from the Institute of Children’s Literature where he fulfilled his talent for writing, specializing in the children and teenage topics, and later completed  a teenage  mystery novel. His interests were sports, movies and music.  He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
James was born to Edward J and Margaret A. Welcheck on 12/14/1962. He is survived by his mother Margaret A., and siblings; Margaret M. Martin (Charles O.), Edward C., Veronica E., Jeffrey T., and Michael J.  He was preceded in death by his father Edward J. and a sister Barbara A.  James will be greatly missed; he was an encouragement to others to continue in life being satisfied with what you have and overcoming insurmountable obstacles. Also a special thanks to the nursing and health staff that has helped James over the years. We are thankful to know that he has now been delivered from this mortal suffering and we trust that he has found refuge in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Family and friends may visit on Thursday from 2-8p.m. at the W. K. Sujkowski & Son Funeral Home, 3838 Airport Hwy., with a scripture service at 7:00p.m.  The Funeral Mass will be held Friday April 1, 2016 at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church where visitation will begin after 9:00a.m.  Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be directed to the Our Lady of Lourdes ‘We Build’ campaign.

The Welcheck family has been a part of our neighborhood for decades and helped make it a wonderful place to grow up and live in. Our heart felt sympathy goes out to every member of the family. You are in our thoughts and prayers now and in the days to come.

my sympathy to you and your family

it's been years, lots of years since I have ever seen you since Our Lady of Lourdes but I wanted to let you know I recognized the name and wanted to reach out.
I was Margaret Wilczynski not too many margarets in this world and I think we have a camaraderie.
My sympathy
