John Benedict Topolewski, Jr., of Toledo, returned to the arms of the Loving Lord on Monday September 12, 2016. He was born to John and Anastasia “Nettie” (Kopczynski) Topolewski in Toledo.
   John was the Chief Plant Chemist and Environmental Coordinator at Doehler Jarvis. He taught Metallurgy at Owens Community College and was a photographer specializing in weddings. John graduated from Nativity Grade School, Central Catholic High School and attended the University of Toledo and the University of Michigan. He served his country in WWII, serving in the Army Air Force Corp, 462nd Bomb Group, 58th Wing, 768th Squadron. John had a strong faith in God and was a longtime member of Blessed Sacrament Parish. John was a loving husband and father and was very active in his family’s lives. He was active in the Hiawatha Football Boosters Club, Whitmer Booster Club, a Junior Achievement Advisor, Cub Scout Master, Past President of the Toledo Area Ceramics Association where he was the longtime ceramic show chairman and co-chairman. John was Past Grand Knight of the Holy Family Council #4591, Knights of Columbus, a 4th Degree Knight, Past Commander, 1st Vice Commander and Chaplain of American Legion Post 18, a 40/8 member and a member of the Toledo Polish Genealogy Society (TPGS). John also enjoyed bingo, fishing, playing cards and ceramics.
   John was preceded in death by his parents; the love of his life and loving wife of 61 years Patricia (Mikolajczyk); brother Leonard and grandson Alex John Topolewski. Left to cherish his memory are his children Ann Marie (Ron) Bentley, Karen (John) Toral and Gregory (Melanie) Topolewski; grandchildren Steven Bentley, Anthony (Stefanie) Bowman, Katie (Tom) Scott, Eric Topolewski, Ed (Rhonda) and Brad (Becky) Bentley; great grandchildren Alyssa and Alekzander Kinney, Alannah, Ashlyn, Andrew, Logan and Wesley Bentley, Aubrey and Braden Bowman and Piper Scott; brother Daniel (Marge) Topolewski; sisters-in-law Joyce Lorenz and Sophia Mikolajczyk and brothers-in-law Alvin (Ruth), James (Bev) and David Mikolajczyk.
   Family and friends may visit Friday September 16, 2016 from 2-8 p.m. at the W. K. Sujkowski & Son Funeral Home, 3838 Airport Hwy. where the Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m., immediately followed by Knights of Columbus 4th Degree services. Funeral services will begin with prayers at the mortuary on Saturday at 11:15 a.m. followed by the funeral Mass at 12 noon in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
   The family would like to thank the nurses and aides of Hospice of Northwest Ohio and his Promedica aides, especially Arsha, for all the comfort, support and care they provided. Donations may be made to Hospice of NWO or TPGS.
