Daniel John "Kaz" Kazmierczak passed away peacefully Thursday, May 25, 2017 at the Ebeid Hospice Residence in Sylvania, OH. He was born in Toledo, OH April 17, 1928, to John Paul and Bernice (Jakubowski) Kazmierczak. He grew up in the old south end neighborhood. He attended St. Agnes Grade School and DeVilbiss High School. Kaz worked at Inmont Corporation for several years and Textileather from 1983 until his retirement.
    Kaz was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 642. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Army. His most significant memory was caring for General John J. "Black Jack" Pershing during Kaz's time in service at Walter Reed General Hospital. In his younger years, Kaz enjoyed collecting, restoring and showing Ford Model A cars as well as traveling to Las Vegas to play in Blackjack tournaments.
    Kaz is survived by his wife of 30 years, Sheila (Brailsford) Kazmierczak. Also surviving are his son, John Paul Kazmierczak; daughter, Karen (Bill) Bates; stepchildren, Terry Brailsford and family (New Hampshire), Christopher Brailsford and family (California), David Brailsford and family (Toledo); special grandson, Phillip Brailsford (Chicago), and brother, Leonard Kazmierczak. In addition to his parents, Kaz was preceded in death by two infant children and his brother, Thomas Kazmierczak.
    Kaz has chosen to donate his body to the University of Toledo Medical Center to assist in the education of the human body.
    Friends are invited to join the family in a celebration of his life on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. at the W.K. Sujkowski & Son Funeral Home, 3838 Airport Hwy, Toledo, OH 43615. A Service by the Przybylski Post #642 will be held at 6:15 P.M. followed by Burial Honors by the Lucas County Veterans Burial Corp at 6:30 P.M.
