Robert D. “Robie” Robaszkiewicz, 79, of Holland, passed away on January 6, 2021. He was born on September 27, 1941 to Louis and Bernice (Sommer) Robaszkiewicz in Toledo.
Robie retired from Teamsters Local 20 where he worked as a dedicated business agent and union trustee. He was a member of the Lancer Car Club and the Old News Boys Goodfellow Association.
Robie was an avid car enthusiast. He loved his '57 Ford that he personally restored and was known for customizing all of his vehicles (he never bought foreign and would give you trouble if you did). Robie was also a big fan of the Indy 500 and attended the races and collected memorabilia for 50 years.
He will be remembered by many for his boisterous laugh, big personality, and even bigger heart. He always had a story and knew someone wherever he went. He was quick to make a friend and even quicker to make a joke.
Over the years he spent the warmer months enjoying family, friends, and boat rides at Hidden Harbour. Robie could be found in the colder months at Venture Out in Cudjoe Key, FL., where he enjoyed the Key West life- socializing, playing Sunday night poker with friends, and undoubtedly getting into trouble. Robie also served on the board of directors of Venture Out. Whenever you talked to Robie and he was in the Keys, he would report that, "the weather is 85* and sunny. You wouldn't like it but somebody has to do it."
Robie was preceded in death by his parents; brother Raymond; son-in-law, Dan Haley; and grandson, Brandon Gallagher.
Robie will be deeply missed by Donna Wojtkowiak His "Tootsie" of 16 years; children: Cyndi (Larry) Mitchell, Christine Haley and Steven Robaszkiewicz, Jeffrey (Amy) Wojtkowiak, David (Lisa) Wojtkowiak and Jennifer Grzegorzewski; grandchildren, Ann (Mike) Schrickel, Jessica (Kevin) Dankert, Kaylie (Josh) Schaar, Kathryn (Jon) Medere, Drew (Cori) Gallagher, Joe Robaszkiewicz, Megan Wojtkowiak, Scott (Krystal) Wojtkowiak, Rachel Wojtkowiak, Nicholas (Melissa) Grzegorzewski, Josie, Anabelle and Gabriela Wojtkowiak; 8 great grandchildren and 4 great grand children making their arrival in 2021.
Robie is also survived by former spouse Jeannette Konwinski many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Robie's family wishes to thank the staff of NWO Hospice Toledo facility for their kind and compassionate care that was shown to Robie and his family.
Visitation with social distancing will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2021, beginning at 4 p.m. until the time of services at 6:00 p.m. at the W.K. Sujkowski & Son Funeral Home, 3838 Airport Hwy. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial tributes to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Donna and Family...
We were so sorry when we heard Robie passed.... Frank has so many more great memories to share than I do and has many great stories and times that he spent with Robie at car shows, the restaurant, etc., and we both know and share in what a great guy Robie was and how many laughs we all shared together. Robie will certainly be a loss in everyone’s life, whether you knew him briefly or for a lifetime.... Robie made an impact!!!!
PS. We’ll never forget his favorite Polish joke.....
Again, our deepest sympathies......

Donna and family, I am so sorry for your loss. I have known Robie since 1985. Ironically, as two Toledoans, we first met at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in the Champion Spark Plug Media room. We were fast friends immediately as I served him free food and beer. (LOL) We had much more than racing in common. Robie's friendship lasted right up until his passing. I will miss him greatly. God Speed, Robie.
