Carolyn Gottfried Obituary

Carolyn Joan Gottfried, 78, passed away peacefully on Good Friday, April 15 at U of M Hospital in Ann Arbor. Carolyn was born on March 7, 1944, to Helen and Aloysius Stachowiak. After graduating from Central Catholic High School in 1962, she started working as a computer programmer at Jeep Corporation.

She met the love of her life, Richard Gottfried and they wed on February 2, 1968. They had three children, Richard, Robert, and Lauri. Carolyn put her career on hold and dedicated her life to being a fantastic and wonderful mother and loving wife. When her children were older, she went back to computer programing. She was the foundation of our family, through and through. Carolyn enjoyed quilting, reading, wintering in Texas, and spending time with family. She had a special bond with her granddaughter, Olivia, and was always available to Facetime.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Helen and Aloysius, and her brother John. Left to cherish her memory is her loving and devoted husband of 54 years, Richard, along with her children, Richard (Brandon), Robert (Jennifer), and Lauri (Robert) VanWert, her granddaughter Olivia, and her stepdaughter, Michelle.

The family invites friends and family to join them for a Funeral Mass on Saturday, April 23rd at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 1850 Airport Hwy, Toledo, OH 43609 at 11:00 a.m. where the family will be greeting guests starting at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, you may wish to consider a donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
