Damian A. Lisiakowski, age 85, of Maumee, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Tuesday November 22, 2016 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Toledo. Damian was the son of Damian and Rose (Tafelski) Lisiakowski and was born in Toledo on August 20, 1931. In 1950 he went to work for the New York Central Railroad. After he served his country in the U. S. Navy during the Korean War, Damian returned to the railroad. He changed to the Pennsylvania Railroad which then became Penn Central, Penn Central became Conrail and Damian retired from there in 1991. He enjoyed golf, was an accomplished dart player and loved playing Santa for everyone.
Damian was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Helen. He is survived by his loving brother Gerald (Patricia Ann) Lisiakowski; niece Karen (Don) Booher; nephew Gregory (Wendy) Lisiakowski; great niece and nephew Jillian and Eric Lisiakowski and dear friend Becky.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday December 2, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church where family and friends may visit after 9:30 a.m. Interment, with military honors, will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Damian’s family expresses heartfelt thanks to the staff at Hospice of Northwest Ohio for their compassionate care. Memorial tributes may be directed to St. Charles Borromeo Parish.
