Michael A. Slomowicz, 73, peacefully passed away on April 12, 2021 after struggling with dementia. Mike was born on April 7, 1948 to Daniel and Helen (Napierala) Slomowicz in Toledo.
He was a life-long member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Mike served his county in the United States Coast Guard during the Vietnam War. After serving his country, Mike pursued becoming an electrician which he began training for in the Coast Guard. He was sworn into the IBEW Local 8 in August of 1974 as an apprentice and retired from the trade in April 2010. Mike had a passion for rebuilding cars, especially his Corvettes. He also attended many auto-shows in Toledo, Michigan and even the Barett Jackson car show in Phoenix, AZ.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents; brother’s-in-law, Gary Hubbell, Terry Henold and Don Swicegood. He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 49 years, Janet (Henold); children, Andrew (Robin Derr) and Trisha (Joe Morrison); grandchildren, Alex, Stacey, Paige, Nick and Grayson; sister, Donna Swicegood ; and many extended family and dear friends.
Visitation with social distancing will be held on Friday from 2-8:00 p.m. at the W.K. Sujkowski & Son Funeral Home, 3838 Airport Hwy. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 17, 2021 with prayer in the mortuary at 9:30 a.m. followed by the Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
