Helen A. Wielgopolski, age 82, of Toledo, passed away on January 3, 2017.
Helen was the daughter of Ollie and Sadie (Mazurkiewicz) Grabarczyk and was born in Toledo on April 4, 1934. She grew up in Nativity parish and attended Whitney Vocation School where she learned to be a seamstress. Helen graduated from St. Vincent’s School of Nursing and went to work as an LPN at Riverside Hospital. She left work to marry her husband Ted and raise their four children. After that she returned to Mercy Hospital, where she worked as an LPN for 25 years, until her retirement. Helen was a loving caregiver to her husband during his illness and was the “neighborhood nurse”, tending to all the children’s cuts and scrapes. She loved to crochet and embroider and especially cherished the time spent with her grandchildren.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, loving husband Ted, daughter Margaret, and sister Joanna Gabriel.  Surviving are her children, Michael (Mary Beth), Mary (Bill) Chalmers and Joe; grandchildren, Christopher, Kaitlyn and Matthew Wielgopolski; Colin, Morgyn and Ryan Chalmers; great granddaughter, Cadence Chalmers; and brother Dick (Alice) Grabarczyk.
Family and friends may visit at the W. K. Sujkowski & Son Funeral Home, 3838 Airport Hwy., on Friday from 2-8 p.m. where the Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Funeral services will begin with prayers at the mortuary on Saturday, January 7, 2016 at 9:15 a.m. followed by the Funeral Mass at Gesu Church at 10 a.m.   Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Memorial tributes may be made to the St. Francis De Sales High School or St. Ursula Academy Education Assistance Funds.
