Barbara J. Wawrzyniak, age 80, passed away peacefully on Monday December 4, 2017. Barb was the daughter of Walter and Helen Horanko and was born in Detroit, MI. on November 24, 1937. On November 26, 1955 she married Eugene Wawrzyniak. Barb worked at Champion Spark Plug Co. and went on to retire from Chrysler-Jeep Corp. Barbara took pride in her job and served years as a Union Steward. She was very active with Local 12 UAW and the Women’s Retiree Committee.
  Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; husband Eugene and daughters Renee and Michelle. She is survived by her children Keith (Louise), Janet (Dennis) Farbrother, Debbie, Andrea Lillie, Kevin, Jim and Marie; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and her sisters Patty Wozniak, Virginia Lesinski and Sharon Stesiak.
  Barbara was a loving mother who shared her heart not only with some but with all who had the honor of meeting her.
  Family and friends may visit on Wednesday from 2-8:00 p.m.  at the W. K. Sujkowski & Son Funeral Home, 3838 Airport Hwy. Her funeral will begin with prayers at the mortuary on Thursday December 7, 2017 at 9:15 a.m. and proceed to Little Flower Catholic Church for the Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Memorial tributes may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association.

My sincere condolences to Barb’s family & friends. Barb & I go back many years; as friends, co-workers & team players on committees. Barb’s Involvement in the Local 12 Women’s Committee was as a Member and officer for over 20 years. Barb participated in many events at Local 12, amongst those being; Community Services & Adopt-A-Family to name a few.
Barb will be sincerely missed & remembered by all those that knew her. On behalf of the Local 12 Retirees please accept our sympathies and we will always honor her memory.
